New Co-Founding Opportunity
Are you a skilled computer vision developer who loves horses, animals, or sports? Join me in building an industry-changing innovation!
About the Project:
The Horse Pain Translator – Revolutionizing Equine Welfare with AI
Dr. Sue Dyson, a renowned equine veterinarian and former President of the British Equine Veterinary Association, has developed the Ridden Horse Pain Ethogram (RhPE)—a tool comprising 24 behavioral markers that indicate pain in ridden horses. Horses exhibiting eight or more of these markers are 10 times more likely to suffer from musculoskeletal pain due to internal injuries. Unfortunately, most horses in the leisure and sport industry fail this test, highlighting our collective inability to detect pain accurately in ridden horses.
While the RhPE has the potential to transform equine veterinary care and welfare for a $300B global equestrian market, its practical adoption is hindered by the time-intensive and subjective nature of visual assessment.
The Vision:
We aim to solve this by combining Dr. Dyson's expertise with cutting-edge computer vision technology. With her support and access to an exclusive database of labeled video footage, we will develop an AI-powered tool capable of automatically detecting these 24 pain markers in video recordings. This innovation will enable equine veterinarians, clinics, physiotherapists, farriers, saddle-fitters, riders, and horse owners to detect a wide range of pain-related issues—such as musculoskeletal injuries, gastric ulcers, ocular pain, and more—faster, more accurately, and with less effort.
The Opportunity:
I'm seeking a mission-driven technical cofounder to lead the development of this groundbreaking technology. Your expertise in computer vision will be critical, and an interest in horses or the equestrian world is a significant plus. You'll join me in bringing this revolutionary product to market, with the support of early contributions from collaborators at ETH Zurich, UC Berkeley, and Télécom Paris.
This is a chance to build a transformative, high-growth product with the potential to make a real difference for animals and the equestrian industry worldwide. If you're ready to go all-in on this exciting journey (though I'm willing to wait for the right profile), let's connect!
