Job Requisition: Lead Founding Engineer
Company Overview:
YellowPad is a start-up at the forefront of innovation in the legal tech industry. As we gear up for a significant phase of development, we are looking for a Lead Founding Engineer to spearhead our engineering efforts and guide our product innovation.
Location
United States, preferably West Coast. We do not sponsor any types of visas at this time.
Position Summary:
The Lead Founding Engineer will be instrumental in defining the technological future of our company. This role demands a visionary leader with a comprehensive background in full-stack engineering and systems architecture. The ideal candidate will bring a strong track record in developing scalable systems and integrating AI models into practical applications. Strong experience with frontend development is also needed.
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead the development and implementation of high-quality software solutions that align with the company’s strategic objectives.
• Continue to build our platform optimized for fast development velocity.
• Engineer the integration of AI/ML technologies into our products
• Cultivate a culture of innovation, excellence, responsibility, and speed within the engineering team.
• Collaborate with executive leadership to define technological strategies and objectives.
• Attract, hire, and retain top engineering talent, ensuring a high-performance team dynamic.
Qualifications:
• 10+ years experience in software development, including at least 3 years of hands-on engineering leadership
• Extensive experience with full-stack development, including proficiency in TypeScript, NextJS, Python, NodeJS, React, and other modern programming languages and frameworks.
• Skilled in working on large volumes of data and databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, etc.).
• Proven ability to rapidly architect and scale complex systems in a fast-growing startup environment.
• Practical experience with AI/ML model implementation; deep AI expertise is not essential but should understand its application in business contexts.
• Exceptional leadership skills with the capability to motivate and manage a diverse engineering team.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
Compensation:
• $150K plus equity
