What has everyone's experiences with cloud provider credits. I just had the worst experience with Azure and wonder if other folks in this group have had similar experiences across the different cloud providers.
Azure has by far the most generous spend but I spent 5 months trying to get verifications completed (make sure your company name is listed in the domain instead of your name) and multiple weeks getting quotas for GPUs. At this point, you are better off with any other cloud provider if you get 6 figure credits. AWS's non-stackable credits are really weird. You earn $5k from stripe and $2k from somewhere else, its still $5k and if you used up the $5k and someone else gets you $10k of credits, you will only be able to get $5k more. I have not had the time to use our google credits but it seem straight forward. Our startup is on GSuite.

My company got $100k of GCP credits for one year, but it was set up in a way that’s max ~$10k a month. It worked fine but the credits expired last year, only used $40k of them, and now have a $6k/month bill and no clue why. All these cloud companies try their best to completely hide how much you are using while you have credits so they can gouge you once the credits run out. Back in 2017 the startup I worked for had $50k in AWS credits, and one day we get a surprise $10k bill. Turns out a big GPU machine one of the devs made for a customer POC had a high performance SSD on it. Even though the virtual machine was shut down, that SSD was costing $10k/month. Nobody had any idea. It was just a default for that machine.

Budget alerts usually don’t work at all when you have credits.

Thanks for sharing your experience Eduardo. I have had many instances where the AWS kept billing me because things didn't shut down as expected; it got to the point where I started checking the bill everyday. I love the Azure cloud auto shutdown setting -- a default option with Azure ML.

Exactly, I had a dashboard filtering out credits and finally managed to see the values. The azure version for credits is that its in a completely different webpage w/o any report or alert support.

5 months is absolutely crazy. I've received some credits from OpenAI and AWS but both are pretty insignificant. Would love it if anyone has any advice for obtaining more.
