Then, Helen writes a paper where she blasts OpenAI for doing so. Sam say's "don't shit on us, we're gonna be rich." Ilya and the move-slow-ers say "We're supposed to be the fire alarm that stops the machine before it destroys humanity. " Sam says, 'Well, I'm the CEO, bitch.' So the move-slow-ers say, "OK, you're fired," essentially pulling the fire alarm. Then Satya, a bunch of investors, and a surprising number of employees side with Sam and say "don't shit on us, we're gonna be rich." They force the move-slow-ers to step down from the board, and get back to business. So the board which was supposed to be the safety check against a rampant AGI pulled the fire alarm, but instead of the machine coming to a halt, it just fired the board and kept on moving fast.
