Hi all! Thanks for all the work you do. I’m an anthropologist and tech enthusiast who is conducting a study about how genAI programs have been adopted by creators to (wittingly or unwittingly) produce content that has been confused for real life news, events, or storylines. As someone who is quite optimistic about the future of AI, I am working - with my firm, ReD Associates - on a topic that I’m sure most of us have spent significant time thinking about: how misinformation spreads online. We are looking to speak with genAI creators who have produced misinformation (intentionally or not - i.e. this deepfake of the Dalai Lama being arrested that was originally made as a joke and ended up in conspiracy channels), and are compensating qualified participants and referrers for their time. All participants will be pseudonymized and anything we learn will be 100% confidential. So, that said… Can anyone in this group point me to channels, communities, or threads where they have seen this happen on the internet? Or even to specific creators that fit this bill? Our study is platform agnostic (we are looking across Twitter, Facebook, IG, Discord, Rumble, TruthSocial, Telegram, etc.) and we are happy to talk to anyone who is interested in participating. Feel free to DM me with any questions or to discuss further. Thanks in advance for your thoughts! –Cameron
